Terms of Service

Last updated 18 October 2026

These terms apply when you use the Apostille Express website or engage us to assist with your documents.

1. Who we are and what we do

Apostille Express is an independent, privately owned document assistance service. We help customers prepare documents, lodge them with the relevant authorities on their behalf, coordinate notaries public, embassies, translators and couriers, and return documents.

We are not the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), an embassy, a consulate or any government authority, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by them. Apostilles and authentication certificates are issued only by DFAT. Legalisation is performed only by the relevant embassy or consulate. Notarisation is performed only by a notary public.

2. No guarantees about outcomes or timeframes

Government, embassy and third-party processing times are outside our control and vary. Any timeframe we mention is an estimate only. We do not guarantee that any authority will issue a certificate or that any overseas authority will accept your document. You are responsible for confirming the receiving authority's requirements.

3. Pricing and payment

Our service fees include GST. Government, embassy and other third-party charges are shown separately and passed on at cost. Each service is quoted in writing before work begins, and nothing is payable until you approve the quote. Card payments, where offered, are processed by Stripe.

4. Your documents

You must send documents that are genuine and lawfully held. We check documents on arrival before lodgement. If a document cannot proceed as ordered — for example because it is ineligible or needs notarisation — we will contact you to discuss options before doing further work.

5. Changes, cancellations and refunds

You may cancel before we lodge your documents with any authority; we will refund fees for work not yet performed, less any third-party costs already incurred. Government and embassy fees paid to an authority are generally not refundable by that authority. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

6. Delivery and loss

We use tracked services for returning documents. Where you supply your own return envelope, the carrier's terms apply to that delivery. Where an authority returns documents directly by post, we are not responsible for loss in that authority's or the carrier's custody.

7. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to re-supplying the services or refunding the service fee paid for the affected order. We are not liable for decisions of government authorities, embassies or overseas receiving authorities.
